✅ Can You Use a Studio Pole at Home?
Yes! However, there are a few things to keep in mind. Studio poles are typically installed with drilled ceiling mounts, and converting one for home use may require additional parts or adjustments.
A typical HDB home setup will require:
- Home Top Insert & Top Dome (for tension-mount setups)
- OR Home Top Insert & Home Mount (for drill-in setups)
- OR Studio Top Insert & Vaulted Ball Mount aka Studio Mount (for drill-in setups)
📏 Before You Buy
Have these details ready:
- What is your ceiling height?
-
What is your intended installation method?
Tension - no drilling needed, only recommended for ceiling height 3.3m and below
Drilled - drilling required, generally no veiling height requirement -
What is your Ceiling Type?
Solid ceiling: OK
False ceiling: you will need to either cut a hole in the ceiling and install the pole against a solid beam or add additional support behind the false ceiling before installing the pole -
How much Available Space do you have?
You’ll need at least 1.5m clearance (radius) around the pole, this includes any ceiling fixtures like lights and fan. -
What are the Studio Pole Measurements?
Take note of the studio pole's:
- A Pole length
- B Pole length (if any)
- Extension lengths (if any)
- Pole diameter (e.g., 40mm or 45mm)
- Pole material (e.g., chrome, brass, stainless steel)
❓ Why Can’t I Use the Studio Insert with My Home Mount or Dome?
The studio top insert is longer because the studio mount has greater depth.
If you try to pair it with a home mount or home top dome (which are shallower), the pieces won’t align correctly. This could damage the parts and/or compromise your safety.
Studio Top Insert vs Home Top Insert
To ensure everything fits and functions properly, you must use the matching home top insert.
⚠️ Please note:
Do not cut pole pieces to size. This will permanently damage the assembly mechanism, making the pole unusable.
🔧 What About Installation?
We provide installation services for tension-mounted poles only (i.e., no drilling).
If you're purchasing a Home Mount or Studio Mount (both require drilling into your ceiling), you’ll need to engage your own qualified contractor.
